Allen Academy is a growing independent school in Bryan, Texas, competing in TAPPS with programs serving students in grades 6 through 12. Our athletic department is committed to providing a first-class experience for student-athletes, families, and fans while developing systems and facilities that support long-term success.

We are seeking a motivated Athletic Department Intern who is interested in gaining real-world experience in athletic administration, facility operations, and event management. This internship offers meaningful responsibilities rather than observation alone, making it an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in sports management, athletic administration, event operations, recreation, or related fields.

Position Summary

The Athletic Department Intern will assist with the day-to-day operations of one of the busiest areas of our athletic department: facility management and event operations. The intern will work directly with the Athletic Director while helping prepare athletic venues, coordinate game day logistics, improve operational systems, and ensure facilities are ready for practices and competitions.

Every day is different, providing valuable experience in how a successful athletic department operates behind the scenes.

Primary Responsibilities

Facility Management

  • Assist with daily inspections of athletic facilities
  • Help prepare venues for practices, games, and special events
  • Assist with equipment setup and breakdown
  • Organize storage rooms and athletic inventory
  • Help maintain equipment and identify maintenance needs
  • Assist with facility improvement projects

Game Day & Event Operations

  • Assist with game day setup and teardown
  • Prepare competition venues before events
  • Coordinate signage, seating, and event logistics
  • Assist with fan experience initiatives
  • Support scoreboard, music, public address, and game management operations
  • Help coordinate volunteers and event staff as needed

Athletic Operations

  • Assist with inventory management
  • Support coaches with operational needs
  • Help organize equipment and uniforms
  • Assist with special events, tournaments, and camps
  • Complete additional projects assigned by the Athletic Director

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Sport Administration, Recreation, Business, Event Management, Education, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends during athletic events
  • Positive attitude with a desire to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical setup duties
