About Maroon

Maroon is building a relationship-intelligence platform that uses psychology, behavioral data, and AI to help people understand compatibility and make better relationship decisions. We are creating a more thoughtful alternative to swipe-based dating by grounding matchmaking in relationship psychology and real user behavior.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Psychology Research Intern to help support Maroon’s research, assessments, compatibility insights, and user-facing relationship content. This role is ideal for someone interested in psychology, relationships, human behavior, social science, or research-backed product development.

You will help us turn psychological concepts into clear, useful product experiences that users can understand and act on.

Responsibilities

Research psychology concepts related to compatibility, attachment, values, communication, attraction, and relationship behavior

Help review and improve assessment questions, compatibility insights, and relationship prompts

Support the creation of user-facing explanations that feel accurate, helpful, and easy to understand

Analyze user feedback to identify patterns in relationship concerns, dating behavior, and product experience

Help organize research notes, psychology frameworks, and product recommendations

Work with product and AI teams to improve the quality of Maroon’s compatibility outputs

Assist with testing whether insights feel emotionally intelligent, clear, and useful to users

Ideal Candidate

Studying or recently studied psychology, behavioral science, social science, neuroscience, or a related field

Strong interest in relationships, dating behavior, compatibility, attachment, or personality psychology

Strong writing and research skills

Able to explain complex ideas in simple, user-friendly language

Detail-oriented, thoughtful, and curious about how people make relationship decisions

Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment

Nice to Have

Experience with research papers, surveys, assessments, or user interviews

Familiarity with relationship psychology, attachment theory, Big Five, values-based matching, or behavioral science

Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude for research and synthesis

Interest in consumer psychology, social apps, or mental wellness products

Internship Structure

This is a 5-week internship. At the end of the internship, we will review research quality, communication, product judgment, attention to detail, and overall team feedback. If feedback is strong, the internship may convert into a longer-term part-time, contract, or full-time role.
