Fall 2026 Administrative and Development Internship

The position will provide exposure to the inner workings of a nonprofit art house movie theater, and offer interns the opportunity to make contributions to Film Forum’s programs and fundraising efforts. The intern will also work closely with our development team on fundraising work critical to Film Forum’s operating budget. Film Forum interns are crucial team members in helping fulfill our mission as a leading nonprofit cinema for the exhibition of independent and classic films. We seek a dedicated intern to support both our Premieres programming and Development teams.  

Candidates should be currently enrolled undergraduate students, and be able to work 10-12 hours a week over 2 shifts Monday through Friday, for a 14–15-week period. Candidates should also be available to work two full days (10a-4p) per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays as part of their 10–12-hour commitment, in order to cover weekly tech screenings. Candidates are required to attend once monthly Career Conversations (one hour on Zoom).

This position will report to the Internship Manager and work closely with staff in the Premieres and Development departments.  

Duties (Admin):  

  • Quality-check screening of archival and digital film prints (once weekly @ 10am)
  • Manage Film Forum’s online listings on Screen Slate
  • Assist with evening special events as needed (according to schedule availability)
  • Update digital press breaks archive and clip print press breaks
  • Proofread text for FF website, program calendars, and press releases to make sure all information is correct and up to date
  • Communicate consistently with supervisors re: status of projects
  • Additional administrative tasks across departments as needed
  • Run errands as needed

Duties (Development/Membership):

  • Various research projects, including funding prospects
  • Drafting correspondence, requests, and reports
  • Making phone calls to members  
  • Copyediting and proofreading materials and correspondence
  • Filing requests and correspondence
  • Assisting with membership mailings
  • Other general administrative support for the Development & Membership team  
  • Run errands as needed

Qualifications:

  • College student (must provide validation of enrollment in a degree-seeking program)
  • Ability to adapt to varying workflow, to work independently or collaboratively as needed, and follow through on completion of tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Research skills/experience
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity
  • Previous office experience preferred
  • Ability to work primarily in person / in-office
  • Strong interest in new independent film, arts administration and/or philanthropy a plus
