Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a Fixed Asset Analyst Co-Op to support its Finance and Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in accounting, fixed assets, inventory management, and financial reporting within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
The co-op will assist with the management and control of fixed assets and capital expenditures while supporting process improvements, internal controls, and cross-functional initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and depreciation schedules.
- Perform fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization, depreciation calculations, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Conduct physical asset inventories, asset verification, and reconcile inventory records to accounting records.
- Assist with developing and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and asset management practices.
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
- Review capital expenditure requests and supporting documentation for compliance.
- Reconcile fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare reports and analyses related to fixed assets, depreciation expense, inventory accounting, and capital spending.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Assist with internal and external audits by gathering supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams on process improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting and inventory processes.
- Assist with special projects and additional finance and accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
✔ Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
✔ Junior or Senior standing preferred
✔ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
✔ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
✔ Strong written and verbal communication skills
✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred
- Coursework in Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Auditing, or Corporate Finance
- Previous internship, co-op, or accounting experience is preferred but not required
- Experience with ERP systems such as M3, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
- Interest in fixed asset accounting, inventory management, internal controls, and process improvement
