Anderson Smith & Wike PLLC (ASW) is a CPA firm seeking an Audit Associate to join our growing team. The majority of our practice involves auditing governmental entities, nonprofits, and employee benefit plans. From day one, you will work directly with clients and build the foundation for a long-term career—most of our staff stay with us for years.
Location & Travel
This position is based out of our Huntersville office, with non-travel days worked remotely from your home office. All audit engagements that require travel are located within North Carolina, primarily in the Western NC region. Overnight travel occurs on and off throughout the year: during peak season (late summer/fall) it is typically four days per week, reducing to approximately three days per week in the spring, with intermittent remote weeks. Mileage, lodging, and related travel expenses are reimbursed.

- Auditing cash and bank reconciliations
- Auditing accounts receivable
- Performing analytical procedures
- Testing fixed asset additions
- Verifying expenditures
- Preparing audit journal entries
- Auditing cash receipts and disbursements
- Reading board minutes
- Reviewing contracts
- Testing accounts payable and payroll expenditures
- Compliance testing for federal and state grants
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA-eligible or actively working toward CPA licensure
- Experience level of approximately 0 – 2 years of audit experience and recent graduates
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
- Positive attitude and strong attention to detail
- Ability to travel within North Carolina intermittently throughout the year
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
