Corporate Finance and Strategy Intern

Corporate Finance & Strategy Intern

TBD Investors is looking for a Corporate Finance & Strategy Intern to support finance, strategy, and operating initiatives across several TBD portfolio companies.

TBD Investors is an investment partnership and family office backing exceptional searchers and operators. We invest our own capital, often as a lead investor, and work closely with CEOs as they acquire, build, and scale enduring companies.

The intern may support TBD Investors portfolio companies and affiliated platforms operating across several states, including Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants exposure to how companies are actually built after acquisition. The intern will work closely with TBD Investors, portfolio company CEOs, and finance teams on financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, KPI tracking, and strategic projects that help these businesses grow.

Responsibilities may include:

Supporting monthly financial reporting, KPI dashboards, and management presentations

Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Building and maintaining financial models to support business decisions

Analyzing revenue, margins, labor, pricing, customer trends, and operating performance

Helping evaluate growth initiatives, including new locations, new markets, or add-on acquisitions

Supporting lender, board, and investor reporting materials

Conducting market research and competitive analysis

Helping improve finance processes, reporting systems, and internal operating cadence

Working on special projects with TBD Investors and portfolio company leadership teams

Ideal qualifications:

Current undergraduate student, graduate student, or early-career professional with strong analytical skills

Interest in corporate finance, FP&A, private equity, search funds, or operating companies

Strong Excel and financial modeling skills

Ability to turn data into clear business insights

Strong attention to detail and comfort working independently

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Curious, practical, and willing to work on both analytical and operational projects

Prior experience in finance, accounting, consulting, investment banking, private equity, startups, or operating companies is helpful but not required

What makes this role different:

This is not a traditional corporate internship where the work sits far away from decision-making. The intern will get exposure to real operating questions across several growing businesses: how to measure performance, where to invest, what drives profitability, and how to build better reporting and financial discipline as companies scale.

The role is designed for someone who wants to understand both finance and operations — not just how to analyze companies from the outside, but how to help improve them from the inside.

Location: Flexible / remote depending on company needs
Timing: Flexible; part-time during the school year or full-time during summer
Compensation: Paid internship
