Position Overview:

Join our team at JLABS for an on-site role as a Bioinformatics Intern.

In this role, you'll contribute to the development of our proprietary AI-empowered mini-heart platform by characterizing our internal single cell RNA sequencing analysis tool. You’ll also gain exposure to our other in-house developed image and video analysis tool, as well as experience of working in a fast-paced and innovative work environment.

As a skilled candidate, you'll have the opportunity to develop a scalable in silico analytical workflow, supporting the development of a high-throughput analysis platform for our mini-hearts. This role may also involve exploring AI/ML applications to enhance our understanding of cardiac contractile function in response to various stimulatory and therapeutic compounds.

Key Responsibilities:

• This is an exciting opportunity to explore the impact of cutting-edge methods, technologies, and applications in single cell RNA sequencing analysis
• In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently researching relevant topics, compiling data, developing bioinformatic pipelines, and communicating research findings
• You will be mentored by a senior team member to support and effectively guide your contributions to research project objectives
• Support pipeline development for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data underpinning multi-omics analysis

Qualifications / Experience:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biological Data Sciences, Genomics, Systems Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science with a biological focus, or a related quantitative field
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for statistical genetics and data analysis workflows
• Familiarity with NGS or RNA-seq data analysis concepts
• Understanding of experimental metadata structures and data organization principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-functional research environment

Salary and Benefits:

• Full or part-time position based in our facility in JLABS at San Diego, offering contemporary facilities and discounted cafeteria
• The internship will initially be for 8 weeks commencing in June/July 2025, with the possibility of extension thereafter
