Position Overview:
Join our team at JLABS for an on-site role as a Laboratory Intern.
In this role, you'll contribute to the characterization of our proprietary mini-heart platform using video and still imaging techniques. You’ll also gain exposure to the culture, differentiation, and analysis of iPSC-derived cardiac organoids, as well as experience of working in a fast-paced and innovative work environment.
As a skilled candidate, you'll have the opportunity to develop a scalable in silico analytical workflow, supporting the development of a high-throughput analysis platform for our mini-hearts. This role may also involve exploring AI/ML applications to enhance our understanding of cardiac contractile function in response to various stimulatory and therapeutic compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in iPSC culture and mini-heart differentiation and characterization
- Provide laboratory assistance as needed to ensure smooth operation of the biology laboratory
- Capture and analyze video and still images of mini-hearts using light microscopy
- Design and develop a scalable in silico data analysis workflow for high-throughput analysis
- Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to develop software tools for process development and mini-heart analytical characterization
Qualifications / Experience:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field
- Laboratory experience in biology, with ability to support lab operations
- Experience with image analysis, microscopy, and high-throughput imaging is desirable
- Familiarity with data analysis and AI/ML software development is a plus
- Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities

- The internship will initially be for 8 weeks commencing in June/July 2025, with the possibility of extension thereafter
