This position is located in the Regulations & Public Records Unit within the Office of Legal Affairs. The Office of Legal Affairs provides legal guidance, representation, and services designed to support the organization with decision-making and mitigation of legal risk. The Regulations & Public Records Unit coordinates all rulemaking activities across the organization, and provides legal, administrative, and logistical services to support regulations from inception to adoption. The Regulations & Public Records Unit also coordinates all Public Records Act response activities across the organization.

Under general direction of the Supervisor I and Manager I over the Regulations & Public Records Unit, the Assistant Chief Counsels and the Chief Counsel of the Legal Affairs Office, the Analyst III functions as an advanced journey level specialist in the areas of document searches conducted for Public Records Act requests, analysis of potentially privileged documents, and record management and retention policies. The Analyst III is responsible for developing and coordinating sensitive and complex staff work for dissemination to CalRecycle executive management, CalRecycle administrative offices, external state agencies, the Legislature, the Governor’s Office, and the public.
