Position Summary

The High School Foundational Mathematics Teacher provides standards-aligned instruction focused on strengthening students' mathematical understanding and closing learning gaps. The teacher will utilize data-driven instruction, differentiated teaching strategies, and real-world applications to improve student achievement while fostering confidence, perseverance, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
• Reinforce foundational mathematical concepts, including number sense, algebraic reasoning, geometry, functions, statistics, and mathematical modeling.
• Identify and address learning gaps through targeted interventions and differentiated instruction.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional practices.
• Develop students' critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities through meaningful mathematical experiences.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages academic growth and student engagement.
• Integrate instructional technology, digital learning tools, and real-world applications into mathematics instruction.
• Prepare students for state assessments, graduation requirements, and success in higher-level mathematics courses.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student performance.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and academic expectations.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, instructional coaches, administrators, and student support staff to improve student outcomes.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other assigned responsibilities.
• Uphold school policies while maintaining high expectations for student achievement, behavior, and professionalism.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
• Valid Florida Educator Certificate or eligibility for certification.
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to helping students build confidence and proficiency in mathematics.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Mathematics 6–12.
• Experience teaching foundational or intervention mathematics at the high school level.
• Knowledge of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and state assessment expectations.
• Experience using student performance data to drive instructional decisions.
• Familiarity with instructional technology and blended learning strategies.

Salary: Follows the Palm Beach County School District salary scale and referendum.
