Research Associate & Lab Manager 

Overview:  

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate & Lab Manager to support and participate in a range of healthcare and consumer-health innovation projects. This role offers hands-on, real-world industry experience across drug delivery, medical device development, formulation science, prototyping, and laboratory testing. You will work in a wet-lab/office hybrid environment, applying experimental design, analytical techniques, and formulation development to early-stage R&D programs. The role is based in a state-of-the-art biotech incubator at University Lab Partners, providing exposure to medical device and pharmaceutical innovators, entrepreneurs, and translational research teams.

Schedule: 

  • Start with a 2-month internship position, followed by transition to full-time employment 
  • Half-day schedule (9:00 AM–1:00 PM or 1:00 PM–5:00 PM): minimum 4 days/week, or 
  • Full-day schedule (9:00 AM–5:00 PM): minimum 2 full days + 1 half day/week 

 

Compensation: 

Starting at $20-$30/hour for the first two months Periodic performance reviews with potential adjustment.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and conduct chemical, pharmaceutical, and/or biological assays to characterize raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. 
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, such as HPLC, impactors, dissolution and permeation systems, flow cytometry, microscopy, and related analytical tools. 
  • Assist with lab organization, inventory, and day-to-day lab operations as needed. 
  • Assist with design of experiments (DOE), method development, and validation activities. 
  • Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and biological materials in accordance with SOPs and safety protocols. 
  • Document experimental data accurately and consistently following scientific, regulatory, and internal standards. 
  • Participate actively in project discussions, brainstorming sessions, and team meetings. 

 

Qualifications: Educational background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. 

  • Master’s or PhD candidates/recent graduates preferred, but senior undergraduates or recent bachelor’s graduates with strong lab experience are encouraged to apply. 
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a wet-lab environment (academic or industry). 
  • Strong interest in healthcare innovation, product development, and translational research. 
  • Solid experimental skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, analyze data, and iterate efficiently. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation practices. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage R&D setting with multiple concurrent projects.
