The Preschool Aid works with the Classroom Teacher to provide support for the teacher and the needs of the classroom.  This position would be either in the morning or afternoon, based upon the need of the preschool and on the days that Immanuel Lutheran Preschool is open.  This job includes the following responsibilities:

A.   QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Therefore, each staff member shall:
  • Be a spiritual, educational, and professional leader of the preschool and church community.
  • Reflect and commit to the preschool’s Mission and Philosophy, and overall ministry and well being of Immanuel Lutheran Preschool.
  • Be an actively involved member in good standing at Immanuel Lutheran Church or other area LCMS church is preferred.
  • Pursue a plan of professional development as approved by the Director.
  • Shall keep student, family, and staff information confidential as indicated in Policies and Procedures Handbook.
  • Preferred that the applicant holds a CDA, Paraeducator certification, or higher with emphasis in early childhood, preferred. (Voluntary Preschool Room Aide) or is actively pursuing.

B.    ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Support staff are accountable to the classroom teacher and the Director.

C.    SUPERVISION:

  1. Support staff are responsible for assisting the teacher at supervising students in the classroom, outdoors, bathrooms, church, and on outings away from the school building.

D.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Arrives 15 minutes before class and stays 15 minutes after class.
  2. Sets up table washing supplies, hand washing stations, checks for bathroom supplies. Helps set up supplies for daily projects and activities and helps to clean up and put items away. (This includes outdoor equipment.)
  3. Checks student folders for incoming mail and puts mail into folders to go home.
  4. Keeps track of field trip permission forms and extra family activity responses (camping supplies, Parent-Teacher Conference times, Thanksgiving items, Christmas reception, Closing program)
  5. Participates in student activities; in and around the classroom.
  6. Assists the teacher in dealing with discipline that is in line with policy in the Policies and Procedures Handbook. Refrains from discipline procedures that are not allowed in our policy.
  7. Completes required courses for DHS licensing and attends classes to meet required number of hours for professional development training.
  8. Dresses professionally yet functionally.
  9. Helps to keep classroom tidy, clean, sanitized and disinfected.
  10. Helps display students’ work.
  11. Is attentive to the classroom needs and refrains from personal device usage during work hours.

Job Type: Part-time (either morning or afternoon)

Salary: Up to $14.00 per hour to start

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Cedar Falls, IA 50613: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Writing skills: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Classroom management: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Experience with children: 1 year (Required)
