Social Media & Events Intern

The Recruiting Intern (RI) - Industry Relations will support and work closely with the Career Center team. In this role, the Recruiting Intern will collaborate with various team members of the Career Center to connect students/alumni and community members to recruitment activities. In addition, the Recruiting Intern will also bridge business and entrepreneurship needs with advising and education opportunities provided by the Career Center. As a member of the Career Center team, the Recruiting Intern will have access to a vast network of professionals and the opportunity to engage in professional development training activities. As a result, the Recruiting Intern can anticipate bolstering transferable skills and developing a network of business professionals.    

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Collaborate with the Career Center team to conduct in-person or online outreach efforts to identify and attract employers, entrepreneurs, businesses, students/alumni, and job seekers.
  • Identify and contribute strategies and improvements to support and enhance programming and services.
  • Assist with planning and delivering events and workshops to support student, small business, and employer engagement.
  • Assist in the coordination of various programs at the Career Center
  • Support with all Handshake related inquires
  • Assist in updating the website and managing support requests
  • Creating Social Media content.
  • Maintain a calendar for program events and workshops.
  • Provide support with managing social media platforms and developing content to increase the presence of the Ohlone College Tri-Cities Career Center and its services/programs.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments, including contacting participants and helping with room/virtual space reservations.
  • Utilizing Canva to create marketing materials
  • Helping re-launch our Employer Tabling Event
  • Assist by answering phones, emails, and other modes of correspondence and maintaining any necessary records/files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements:   

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a recent graduate.

Knowledge and Abilities:   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to interact with a variety of individuals, including employers and clients.
  • Experience operating a variety of office equipment including a copier, scanner, label maker, computer, and assigned software preferred.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Work effectively in an inclusive work environment.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relations with others.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of students, faculty, staff, clients, and employers.
  • Attend all team meetings/trainings and major events/workshops.
  • Desire to help others with career-related and entrepreneurial needs.
  • Complete work with frequent interruptions.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Type or input data at an acceptable rate of speed.
  • Drive vehicle to conduct work.

  

Location:   

  • Main Office: Ohlone College Newark Campus
  • Occasionally will have to travel to the Fremont Campus.
