Substitute Teacher (Childcare & Special Needs)

About the Role

Lapapoe is seeking Substitute Teachers to provide staffing support to childcare centers across Metro Atlanta. Our substitute teachers help maintain safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environments while supporting children with diverse developmental, behavioral, and learning needs.

Assignments may range from a few hours to multiple days and may involve supporting an entire classroom, assisting lead teachers, or providing additional support to individual children.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
  • Support classroom routines, activities, and transitions
  • Follow lesson plans and classroom expectations provided by the childcare center
  • Build positive relationships with children, educators, and families
  • Support children with varying communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs
  • Maintain a professional and positive classroom environment
  • Follow all childcare center policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with childcare center staff and the Lapapoe team

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with children in childcare, education, recreation, family support, or related settings
  • Experience supporting children with disabilities, developmental differences, behavioral challenges, or special needs
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to different childcare environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Childcare center experience
  • Experience in special education, ABA, behavioral health, direct support services, or related fields
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or social-emotional needs
