TITLE: Student Office Assistant


POSITION TYPE: Part-Time On-Campus Student Employment


SCHOOL YEAR: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior


WAGE RANGE: $13.73/hr, Work Study required


BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 To provide receptionist and general clerical duties for the Disability Services
office.
 To assist in the implementation of testing accommodations
 To provide accurate information to students regarding the policies and
procedures of the Disability Services office.


CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Included but not limited to)
1. Assist in office coverage by answering telephones, taking messages, making
appointments, and performing receptionist duties. Answer general questions
and/or transfer to appropriate office by evaluating concern and making
appropriate referral.
2. Greet students and visitors.
3. Complete various office tasks such as but not limited to filing, photocopying, or
file creation
4. Perform proctoring duties for students testing with Disability Services. This may
include reading or scribing tests.
5. Conduct oneself, particularly when performing job-related functions, in a manner
which reflects positively on the Disability Services office and Northern Michigan
University.
6. Recognize the importance of confidentiality of office and student information.
7. Other duties as assigned by Administrative Assistant and/or Coordinators
 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED from Administrative Assistant and Coordinators, Disability Services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Office experience including telephone, computers (i.e.: Word, Excel or
spreadsheet-based programs, graphic programs would be helpful, but not
necessary), typing and organizational skills.
2. Good interpersonal skills
3. Ability to work with multiple tasks and/or individuals promptly
4. Must meet University’s satisfactory progress standards
