Supply Chain Intern
Texas Hydraulics is seeking a motivated Supply Chain Intern to support our purchasing team during a focused operational improvement effort. This is a hands-on role centered on day-to-day purchasing support: placing and tracking orders, expediting material, and keeping our planning system clean and current. Alongside the core purchasing work, the intern will take on light data-analysis and process-improvement projects — including exploring practical AI tools — to help the team work faster and catch problems earlier.
It is an ideal opportunity for a student who wants real exposure to manufacturing supply chain operations, ERP/planning systems, and data-driven decision-making within a lean, fast-moving team.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing support (primary focus):
- Assist buyers with placing, confirming, and expediting purchase orders to keep production supplied.
- Monitor open orders and follow up with suppliers on confirmations, ship dates, and past-due deliveries.
- Help review and act on Oracle ASCP planning signals and daily exception/reorder reports.
- Maintain accurate item and order data in the ERP system (lead times, dates, quantities, supplier info).
- Support resolution of receiving, invoice, and order discrepancies.
Data analysis & technical projects (secondary focus):
- Build and maintain spreadsheets and simple reports (e.g., backlog, on-time delivery, supplier performance).
- Clean, organize, and summarize purchasing data to surface trends and problem areas.
- Help test and apply light AI tools to speed up routine tasks such as drafting supplier emails, summarizing reports, and checking data — under team guidance.
- Document workflows and assist with small process-improvement initiatives.
- Other technical and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current student pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working with data.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable — able to follow daily routines consistently.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable contacting suppliers and teammates.
- Eager to learn, takes initiative, and follows through without close supervision.
Preferred (nice to have):
- Exposure to an ERP/MRP system (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
- Familiarity with AI assistants, or data tools such as Power BI, SQL, or Python.
- Interest in manufacturing, operations, or procurement as a career path.
