Poultry Management Trainee

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receives management training and experience in flock service; vaccination programs; molting programs; feeding programs; house maintenance; pest control programs; record keeping; supervision in the layer and pullet houses, processing plants, egg grading, packing, warehousing, shipping, sanitation procedures, preventive maintenance, inventory control, procurement, and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY REPSONSIBILITIES

The trainee will directly supervise employees as the training provides. The intern will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; assists in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) in management or poultry science from a four-year college or university.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The employee must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The employee must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The employee must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

The employee must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

The employee must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations that which only limited standardization exist. The employee must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid driver’s license and forklift certificate may be required for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, and regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

EQUIPMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may operate a forklift, pallet jack, processing machine, vaccinator, vehicles, and other equipment as required.
