Software Engineer Intern

About Infinite Music

Infinite Music is a tech-forward music distribution and publishing company built for the independent artist. We've helped 100+ artists generate over 5 billion streams and put more than $10 million directly into their pockets, all while helping them stay in control of their careers and their art.

We're active partners, offering hands-on support across distribution, publishing, marketing, and business development. We're not just a platform. We're a team that's deeply rooted in the culture and genuinely invested in the talent we work with.

The Role

We're looking for a curious, motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our tech team for a paid 3-month internship. Strong performance could lead to a permanent position, though this is not guaranteed. You'll work on real features, real bugs, and real documentation. Not busy-work. This role is fully remote.

You'll spend your days writing code, improving our database, shipping features, and ensuring the work is well-documented. Every week kicks off with a team sync to review what we've built, and to plan what's next, so you'll always know how your work fits into the bigger picture.

What You'll Work On

  • Identify and fix bugs ranging from low to medium priority, and assist senior engineers on higher-priority issues
  • Write and optimize database queries to improve how we store and retrieve data
  • Draft clear technical documentation, including database schemas, system flows, and feature write-ups
  • Support the rollout of new features on the Infinite Music Dashboard, used by both artists and our internal team
  • Participate in a weekly planning session to review progress and align on the week ahead

What We're Looking For

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing (or holding) a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related fields
  • Proficient in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or any Object-Oriented Programming Language
  • Comfortable writing SQL queries (PostgreSQL)
  • Experience consuming or building APIs
  • Familiar with Git and GitHub (branching, PRs, code review workflows)
  • Some exposure to AI or large language models (LLMs), even if it's just curiosity and tinkering
  • Exposure to AWS, React, Node.js a plus

Who You Are

  • A strong writer; clear documentation matters as much as clean code here
  • Naturally inquisitive; you ask questions before assuming
  • A fast learner who picks up new tools and concepts quickly
  • Comfortable working independently, but communicates proactively, especially before shipping features
  • Accountable; you own your mistakes, learn from them, and move forward without placing blame
  • Excited about the future of AI and how it can be applied in creative and music industry contexts
  • A music lover who genuinely cares about the world artists navigate

Compensation & Details

  • This is a paid internship. Candidate will be paid minimum wage
  • 3-month term with potential to grow into a full-time role based on team fit (not guaranteed)
  • Fully remote; work from wherever you do your best thinking
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers building real products
