Now Hiring: Director of Food Service

Full-Time Year-Round

Walkerville Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Director of Food Service to lead our Child Nutrition Program (CNP). The Director will work closely with the Superintendent and Business Department to oversee menu planning, food safety, procurement, finances, and staff leadership for our CNP.

What You’ll Do

• Plan nutritious, cost-effective menus that meet USDA and state guidelines.
• Oversee food safety, sanitation, and procurement for the cafeteria.
• Manage CNP finances, including USDA meal reimbursement claims and recordkeeping.
• Lead, train, and support kitchen staff.
• Build relationships with students, families, staff, and the community to support program participation.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED plus at least 3 years of relevant school nutrition experience.
• At least 8 hours of food safety training within 5 years prior to hire, or completed within 30 days of starting.
• Because Walkerville’s enrollment is under 500 students, USDA Small LEA Hiring Flexibility may allow consideration of related food service experience, documented volunteer/unpaid experience, or candidates with less than the typical years of experience for qualified candidates who meet the minimum education requirement.

Reports To

Superintendent and Business Manager

Compensation & Schedule

• Full-time, year-round position; individual one-year contract renewable based on performance.
• Follows the Walkerville Public Schools academic calendar.
• Salary: commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Benefits: Follows the administrative employee benefits package
