GC Analytical Intern

Job Title: GC Analytical Intern 

Department: Quality / QC 

Reports to: QC Manager 

Salary: DOE 

Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) 

Schedule: Part Time (15-20 hours per week) 

Shift: Hours negotiable 

Location: SLC  

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

This position is primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining the QC Lab GC-FID.  

 

MAIN JOB FUCNTIONS: 

Set up & maintain the GC-FID instrument 

Establish and write up the method for use and maintenance of the GC-FID 

Build a library of controls for flavor keys 

Perform QC testing of production samples using GC-FID 

Other duties and functions may be assigned. 

 

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, or related field. 

Experience with operating GCs required.  

MS or PhD candidate in related field preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This position frequently works in a laboratory environment with frequent exposure to the manufacturing floor. Seldom exposure to noise and fumes, dust or other airborne particles.  Seldom work near moving mechanical parts or powered industrial trucks.  Potential exposure to allergens such as milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

This position requires frequent sitting, use of hands, talking, hearing/listening, tasting/smelling, standing, walking, bending/stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
