About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about social media, storytelling, and creating content that makes an impact? Avon Grove Charter School is seeking a creative, motivated Social Media & Communications Intern to help showcase the incredible things happening across our K-12 public charter school.
This paid internship offers hands-on experience creating engaging content for real audiences while building a professional portfolio. The ideal candidate is someone who loves creating short-form video, stays on top of social media trends, and enjoys bringing ideas to life.
Responsibilities
- Create engaging short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
- Capture photos and videos of students, staff, classrooms, athletics, and school events.
- Brainstorm and pitch creative content ideas that help market and promote the school.
- Edit videos using current editing apps and software.
- Write compelling captions and assist with social media publishing.
- Ensure all content aligns with the school's brand, messaging, and communications goals.
- Coordinate with students and staff to organize photo and video opportunities.
- Help students feel comfortable on camera and encourage participation in social media content.
- Stay current on social media trends and recommend new content ideas and strategies.
- Work independently while managing projects and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
- Junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Advertising, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of relevant college coursework completed.
- Experience creating short-form social media videos (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc.).
- Strong understanding of current social media trends, content strategy, and digital marketing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outgoing, personable, and comfortable interacting with students in grades K-12.
- Comfortable approaching students and staff to coordinate photo and video opportunities.
- Creative self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple projects, and bring fresh ideas to the table.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with video editing software or apps such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between our West Grove and Landenberg campuses.
Schedule & Compensation
- $20 per hour
- 5–10 hours per week
- Flexible schedule around college classes, with availability during portions of the school day to capture content and attend occasional school events.
- Internship opportunities available:
- September–January
- January–May
- Opportunity to continue for both semesters
