About the Role:
We are seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher to join our team at Bronx Arts and Science Charter School Middle School. The Permanent Substitute Teacher assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of students, fostering and maintaining an effective and caring learning climate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assume professional responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of students
- Foster and maintain an effective and caring learning climate
- Manage the classroom in accordance with New York school law, charter school policies, and school procedures
- Assume responsibility for providing classroom instruction, student academic assistance, and planning activities when lesson plans are incomplete
- Maintain appropriate records (grading, homework, classwork)
- Serve as a role model for students and maintain established classroom routines
- Report evidence of abuse, neglect, or emergency concerns to appropriate personnel
- Collaborate with administration, faculty, and students
- Report to the Assistant Director of Operations

Qualifications:
- New York State Substitute Teaching Credentials
- Minimum of 60 college credits
- Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing)
- Knowledge of child growth/development and learning/motivational techniques
- Working knowledge of technological software and equipment
- Valid driver's license (preferred)
- Must pass a criminal history background check, health evaluation, and Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test

Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $43,750
- Comprehensive Benefits: Health (Medical, Vision, Dental), Short Term Disability, AAE, & Pension

Terms of Employment:
- Ten Month Contract
