About the Role:
The Social Studies Teacher facilitates student success and growth by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. Key duties include developing lesson plans, conducting ongoing assessments, differentiating instruction, and maintaining communication with parents and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with district-approved curriculum and standards
- Conduct ongoing assessments and differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs
- Maintain accurate records of grading, attendance, and student progress
- Maintain communication with parents and administration regarding student progress
- Maintain a safe, functional, and positive learning environment
- Coordinate with professional staff and participate in faculty meetings
- Engage in self-evaluation and ongoing professional development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
- Valid New York Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement (or eligibility)
- Proficiency in technology (word processing, data management, Smartboard tools)
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of child development, federal/state laws, and current pedagogical methods
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level is preferred
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation; ability to maintain confidentiality
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $73,500 (Certified)
- Advanced Degrees: Additional $3,000 for a Master's degree; $5,000 for a Doctorate
- Experience Stipend: $200 per year for applicable experience
Terms of Employment:
- Ten-month employee position
