• Work sample. On CAR-T cell therapy for lupus and other autoimmune diseases, submit a ~150-word explainer for a smart non-scientist investor (what it is, why it matters, who it helps, and what you'd want to know next) plus one accompanying slide (headline, a simple graphic or diagram, and up to three supporting points). Use publicly available sources and cite them briefly. We care most about clarity, judgment about what matters, and design sense.

About The Autoimmune Fund

The Autoimmune Fund is the first venture fund dedicated exclusively to autoimmune and immune-mediated disease, built to improve the lives of the millions living with these conditions. We invest at the Seed and Series A stages across the full patient-care continuum, including diagnostics, therapeutics, devices, digital health, and care models. Our thesis focuses on the convergence of immunology, longevity, and women's health to advance disease-modifying, personalized, and preventive solutions.

You will work closely with our founder and CEO, Dr. Bonnie Feldman (DDS, MBA), a former clinical dentist, Wall Street buy-side and sell-side equity research analyst, biotech investor relations professional, and venture-backed startup founder. She has been featured at TEDx and Stanford Medicine X, and is deeply committed to mentoring early-career team members. You will also collaborate with our founding fellows, a PhD immunologist on the science side and an MBA candidate on the investment side.

The Role

We are hiring a part-time Science Communications & Design Associate to be the connective tissue of a fast-moving fund. This role blends three things that rarely live in one person: a working command of science, clear and persuasive writing, and a strong eye for design. You will translate complex autoimmune science into crisp investor-ready narratives, build and polish slide decks and graphics, and keep the firm's projects, files, and operating cadence organized.

This is an ideal role for a fourth-year undergraduate or graduate student in the life sciences who writes exceptionally well and enjoys the craft of visual communication. You will gain unparalleled exposure to venture capital, healthcare innovation, and what it takes to launch a specialized fund. The role offers a pathway to grow alongside the fund as it scales.

Key Responsibilities

Science Communications & Writing

• Translate complex science into clarity. Distill autoimmune research, diagnostics, and therapeutic developments into clear one-pagers, investment summaries, newsletters, and investor communications.
• Write across formats. Draft and edit memos, LinkedIn posts, monthly newsletters, and external communications in the founder's voice.
• Support investment research. Help compile market scans, competitive benchmarking, and thesis materials in collaboration with the science and investment fellows.

Design & Slides

• Build and polish decks. Design investor pitch decks, portfolio updates, and presentation materials that are clean, on-brand, and visually compelling.
• Create graphics. Produce charts, diagrams, and visual explainers that make scientific and financial concepts easy to grasp.
• Own visual consistency. Maintain templates and a consistent visual identity across the fund's internal and external materials.

Operations & Organization

• Keep the firm organized. Manage internal project tracking, files, and documentation so priorities stay clear and nothing falls through the cracks.
• Streamline how we work. Improve internal processes, templates, and systems for speed, clarity, and consistency.
• Support the operating cadence. Help prepare for meetings, track follow-through on weekly objectives, and support special projects as they arise.
• Manage the data room. Help structure and maintain the fund's data room and supporting materials.
• Bring an AI-first mindset. Find ways to use AI tools to accelerate writing, design, research, and operations.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a fourth-year undergraduate or graduate degree in the life sciences, bioengineering, or a related scientific field, with a genuine interest in the business of healthcare.
• Exceptional writer, able to communicate clearly and persuasively in scientific, analytical, and general-audience contexts.
• Strong design sensibility, with demonstrated ability to build polished slides and graphics (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, or equivalent).
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects at once and drive tasks to completion in a fast-moving environment.
• Self-starter who can operate with limited direction, anticipate needs, and take initiative.
• AI-savvy and intellectually curious, eager to use AI tools to write, design, research, and automate work more effectively.
• Proficient with common productivity tools (Google Workspace, docs, spreadsheets, and project trackers).
• Based in or near Los Angeles and able to work in a hybrid arrangement.
• Able to commit to the role for a minimum of one year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background or coursework in immunology or autoimmune disease.
• Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or advanced Canva.
• Familiarity with venture capital, life sciences investing, or healthcare innovation.
• Comfort experimenting with new tools, including AI tools, to automate and accelerate work.
• Passion for the future of autoimmune patient care.

Position Details

• Type: Part-time paid fellowship (hourly or stipend), approximately 10–20 hours per week, with scheduling flexible around academic commitments.
• Commitment: Minimum one-year commitment.
• Location: Los Angeles; hybrid, with periodic in-person collaboration.
• Growth: Potential to grow alongside the fund as it scales.
