Math Camp Residential Counselor (July 20-25)
Math League is hiring residential counselors for our summer mathematics program for gifted elementary and middle school students, held at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) from July 20 to 25. The program hosts approximately 150 North American middle school students in grades 6 through 9.
About the role
Counselors live on campus alongside our participants for the duration of the program. You will be responsible for supervising students throughout the day, including moving them between classrooms, getting them ready for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and overseeing leisure activities in the afternoons and evenings. Counselors also help students take proper care of their residence rooms. This is an active, hands-on role centered on keeping students safe, engaged, and on schedule.
Compensation
Salary is $150 per day, plus room and board for the duration of the program.
Requirements
Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Parents of participating students may not serve as counselors. While not required, preference will be given to candidates who speak Chinese.
Schedule
Counselors may apply for one or both sessions. The program runs July 20 to 25.
What we're looking for
Strong candidates are responsible, energetic, and comfortable supervising and motivating young students in a residential setting. Prior experience working with children or in a camp environment is a plus, as is patience, good judgment, and the ability to stay organized in a busy daily routine.
