Phd Mentor in Materials Science for High School Competition

We are seeking a Materials Science professor, postdoctoral researcher, or advanced PhD student interested in mentoring a highly motivated high school student on an original research project for a national-level science fair.

The student is:

Highly motivated and committed to conducting authentic scientific research.
Interested in materials science, including topics such as nanomaterials, polymers, biomaterials, energy materials, semiconductors, composites, or computational materials.
Prepared to dedicate 8–10 hours per week over several months.
Looking to learn the complete research process, including literature review, experimental design, data analysis, scientific writing, and presentation.
Mentor Responsibilities

The mentor would:

Help identify a novel, feasible research question.
Guide the student through the research process.
Provide regular meetings (typically 1–2 hours per week).
Offer feedback on experimental methods, data interpretation, and scientific communication.
Support the student in preparing a science fair paper and presentation.
