Overview of the Position
The assistant teacher’s duties will be split between assisting the Preschool and Pre-kindergarten classes. Responsibilities include:
- Interacting with children in a learning environment
- Supervising children
- Weekly planning of hands-on activities and circle-time
- Daily preparation and clean-up of activities and snacks
- Assisting with toileting
- Working cooperatively with staff and parents
Qualifications
Candidates must be fluent in progressive educational theory and practices, be culturally competent, have previous classroom teaching/assisting experience, and be able to lift 40 lbs. Candidates must have valid qualifications for working with preschool students, which include 12 core semester units (Child/Human Growth and Development, Child, Family and Community, and Program/Curriculum). AA or BA preferred. Candidates must meet State Licensing requirements, which include Live Scan Fingerprinting, current TB clearance, immunizations, health report, Adult and Child CPR and First Aid training. We are seeking candidates who are reliable, adaptable, and have a nurturing and supportive tone with students.
