This role is responsible for creating engaging content across social media platforms, with a strong focus on short-form video, educational graphics, and promotional materials for events and initiatives.
Serving as the office’s primary storyteller, the intern will translate complex sustainability topics into accessible, compelling narratives that resonate with students, faculty, and staff. The position offers hands-on experience managing social media, shaping brand voice, and supporting strategic communications within a professional sustainability setting.
This is a paid, part-time, academic-year internship requiring 12–15 hours per week during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, with the potential to continue annually until graduation for interns in good standing.
Start date: August 10, 2026
End date: May 28, 2027 (with potential continuation)
Schedule: 12–15 hours per week; some evening and event-based hours required. Required to work 2–3 Saturdays over the entire internship term for major events and outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, film, edit, and publish short-form video content (such as reels) for Instagram and other platforms to highlight sustainability programs, events, and stories.
- Create digital media assets (graphics, stories, posts, short videos) to promote Office of Sustainability initiatives, events, and campaigns.
- Maintain a consistent, on-brand voice and visual identity across social media channels, newsletters, and other communications.
- Assist with developing and implementing social media content calendars, including scheduling posts and tracking performance.
- Write clear, engaging captions and short-form copy that educate, inspire, and mobilize the campus community around sustainability.
- Capture photos and video at events and programs for use in storytelling, recaps, and future promotional materials.
- Monitor social media engagement, respond to messages or comments as directed, and provide basic analytics summaries to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with other interns and staff to ensure communications align with office priorities and reflect key sustainability themes.
