Performs professional work in the Planning Division of the County's Department of Planning and Zoning to help ensure the orderly growth and efficient administration of public resources. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, County officials, and other governmental agencies.
Reports to the Director of Planning and Zoning.

Hiring Salary: $48,693-$73,050
Planner I: Under supervision, performs entry level professional work in the County’s planning and zoning department to help ensure the orderly growth and efficient administration of public resources. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, County officials, and other governmental agencies. Reports to the Senior Comprehensive Planner or Director of Planning and Zoning.
Hiring Salary: $53,560-$80,350
Planner II: Under general supervision, performs responsible professional planning, research, and administrative professional work in the County’s planning and zoning department to help ensure the orderly growth and efficient administration of public resources. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, County officials, and other governmental agencies. Reports to the Senior Comprehensive Planner.
Hiring Salary: $58,926-$88,400
Planner III: Under direction, performs responsible professional planning, research, and administrative work in the County’s planning and zoning department to help ensure the orderly growth and efficient administration of public resources. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, County officials, and other governmental agencies. Reports to the Senior Comprehensive Planner or to the Director of Planning and Zoning.
Qualifications:
Each position requires a bachelor's degree in planning or closely related field, and
Planner I- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in planning, zoning, and community development work preferred.
Planner II - Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in planning, zoning and community development work preferred.
Planner III - Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, zoning, and or community development.
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
