About Tutoring Club of Cary/Morrisville
Tutoring Club of Cary/Morrisville is a structured academic support center serving K–12 students in Math, Reading, Writing, ELA, Spanish, SAT/ACT preparation, and school-aligned academic support. We help students build confidence, close learning gaps, stay aligned with school units, and prepare for quizzes, tests, EOGs, EOCs, and standardized exams.
We are looking for dependable, positive, and academically strong tutors who enjoy working with students and can create a supportive learning environment.
Position Overview
We are hiring part-time tutors in the following subject areas:
- Spanish language
- Math
- ELA / Reading / Writing
Tutors will work with students in a structured tutoring environment using provided curriculum, assignments, and learning materials. This is a great opportunity for college students, graduate students, education majors, STEM majors, language majors, future teachers, retired teachers, substitute teachers, and individuals who enjoy helping students succeed.
Responsibilities
- Tutor K–12 students in one or more subject areas: Spanish, Math, or ELA
- Support students with school-aligned lessons, homework, quizzes, tests, and skill-building practice
- Help students strengthen foundational skills and build confidence
- Follow provided curriculum, worksheets, and lesson materials
- Explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Encourage students to stay focused, organized, and motivated
- Communicate student progress to the center leadership team
Maintain a professional, positive, and reliable presence during tutoring sessions
Qualifications
- Strong academic ability in the subject area you want to tutor
- Ability to explain concepts clearly to students
- Patience, professionalism, and strong communication skills
- Reliable transportation to our Cary/Morrisville center
- Availability during after-school/evening hours
- Prior tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or childcare experience is preferred but not required
- College students (seniors preferred), graduate students, education majors, STEM majors, Spanish majors/minors, English majors, and future teachers are encouraged to apply
Subject-Specific Qualifications
Spanish Tutor
Strong Spanish language skills
Ability to support beginner to intermediate Spanish students
Ability to help with vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, speaking practice, and school assignments
Spanish major/minor, native/near-native fluency, or advanced coursework preferred
Math Tutor
Strong comfort with middle school and/or high school math
Ability to support topics such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, SAT/ACT Math, and AP Calc AB / BC
STEM, engineering, math, science, or education majors are strongly encouraged to apply
ELA / Reading & Writing Tutor
Strong reading, grammar, writing, and communication skills
Ability to support reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, essay writing, school assignments, and EOG/EOC preparation
English, education, communications, humanities, or related majors are encouraged to apply

Compensation
Pay range is $17–$22 per hour based on experience, subject area, availability, and qualifications. Tutors typically start at $17/hour, with opportunities for higher pay based on performance, advanced subject expertise, and center needs.
