Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Veterinary Technician (Licensed Preferred) to join our dynamic veterinary team. Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
  • Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
  • Conduct laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Maintain detailed medical records, update patient histories, and document treatments accurately.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians, including animal catheterization when necessary.
  • Manage pet care routines such as feeding, grooming, and providing comfort to animals in the kennel or treatment areas.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
  • Support pet owners with education on pet care, dental terminology, animal physiology, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Assist with dental cleanings and procedures involving pet grooming or pet care routines that promote overall health.
  • Handle dog training or dog handling tasks when required to ensure effective communication with animals of various temperaments.
  • Support critical veterinary care efforts for animals requiring intensive attention or specialized treatment in emergency situations.

Experience

  • Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background demonstrating familiarity with animal behavior and care routines.
  • Veterinary technician experience or certification preferred; however, motivated candidates with relevant animal handling skills will be considered.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology essential for accurate support in clinical procedures.
  • Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Experience with equine care or large animals is a plus but not mandatory; candidates should be adaptable to diverse species needs.
  • Proficiency in X-ray operation and interpretation enhances your ability to contribute effectively within the team.
