River Valley Services (RVS), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a part-time Secretary 2 (PCN 81420). - Part-time (34 hours/week), First Shift, Monday - Friday

- MONDAY - 8:30am to 3:30pm
- TUESDAY - 8:30am to 4:30pm
- WEDNESDAY - 8:30am to 3:30pm
- THURSDAY - 8:30am to 3:30pm
- FRIDAY - 8:30am to 4:00pm

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Coordinating daily front‑desk operations and serving as a key point of contact for the outpatient clinic.
- Scheduling appointments and ensuring accurate, timely updates to calendars and clinical workflows.
- Supporting clinical staff with routine administrative tasks and assisting with medical records functions.
- Maintaining and preparing reports related to quality assurance and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Assisting with special projects that enhance clinic operations and service delivery.
- Providing general administrative support to promote efficient, organized, and customer‑focused program functioning.
- Demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills in a fast‑paced behavioral healthcare environment.

River Valley Services (RVS), a community mental health center serving Middlesex County and the towns of Lyme and Old Lyme, is operated by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). RVS’s goal is to provide the highest quality crisis intervention, case management, and residential and clinical services to adult citizens, 18 years of age and older, who suffer from serious mental disorders and who lack the financial means to secure such services in the private sector. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as a Secretary 1 or its equivalent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in the secretarial sciences may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting clinical and leadership staff with administrative tasks and contributing to compliance and quality improvement activities.
- Experience providing administrative support in a healthcare, behavioral health, or human services setting.
- Experience in front-desk operations, including greeting visitors, managing phone, email, and in-person inquiries, and coordinating appointment scheduling.
- Experience handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system for scheduling, document management, and record maintenance.
- Experience independently using advanced features of Microsoft applications, including organizing and formatting data in Excel, creating and formatting work documents.
