Youth Athlete Development Captain

FortiFly Sports is looking for current and former college/pro athletes to serve as Athlete Captains for youth athletes ages 10–18.

Athlete Captains meet virtually with young athletes in 30-minute educational support sessions focused on the parts of sports that do not always show up in stats, such as confidence, pressure, focus, decision-making, leadership, ownership, preparation, and resilience.

This is a good fit for athletes who want to give back, support the next generation, build communication and leadership experience, and earn flexible income around their schedule.

This is an educational support role, not technical coaching or clinical care. Captains provide sessions independently using FortiFly’s session framework and their own athlete experience. The role does not include technical skills coaching, training plans, therapy, counseling, or medical/clinical advice.

FortiFly provides the session structure, prompts, and focus areas, so Captains do not need to create a program from scratch. Sessions are scheduled based on athlete/family needs and Captain availability.

Responsibilities may include:

Meeting virtually with youth athletes for 30-minute sessions
Sharing personal athlete experience in an encouraging, age-appropriate way
Helping athletes reflect on goals, challenges, habits, and growth areas
Supporting development in confidence, leadership, decision-making, and ownership
Using FortiFly’s session framework and following youth-safety expectations
Completing orientation, background check, and youth-safety steps before beginning sessions
Communicating professionally and reliably

Ideal candidates:

Current or former college/pro athletes
18 years or older
Strong communicators who enjoy supporting younger athletes
Reliable, encouraging, and mature
Comfortable discussing the mental, leadership, and decision-making sides of sports
Able to provide sessions independently while using FortiFly’s session framework and following youth-safety expectations

What you can gain:

Flexible paid professional experience supporting youth athletes
Communication, leadership, and youth development experience
A meaningful way to give back to the next generation of athletes
Structured session materials, so you are not building anything from scratch
Remote sessions that can fit around class, training, team, work, or competition schedules

Compensation: $25 per completed 30-minute session, equivalent to $50/hour for session time
Location: Remote / virtual
Schedule: Flexible, based on availability
Role type: Independent contractor

Current college athletes are welcome to apply. The role is designed to be flexible around class, training, team, and competition schedules.

Application process: Apply through Handshake. Candidates who may be a strong fit will be invited to a brief intro conversation to learn more about the role, share their athlete background, and ask questions. Selected candidates will then complete orientation, background check, and youth-safety steps before beginning sessions.
