Public Relations Officer

As a Public Relations (PR) Officer you will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote a positive public image of Lakes Utility District. This role manages internal and external communications, media relations, community outreach, public education campaigns, and stakeholder engagement activities. You will serve as a key liaison between the District, customers, community organizations, local government agencies, and the media.

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute public relations, communication, and community engagement strategies.

Prepare and distribute press releases, newsletters, public notices, and other communication materials.

Coordinate public outreach programs, community meetings, educational campaigns, and special events.

Respond to public inquiries and assist with customer communication during emergencies, service interruptions, and infrastructure projects.

Create content including articles, presentations, speeches, reports, videos, and promotional materials.

Assist with crisis communication planning and emergency response messaging.

Support internal communications initiatives to keep employees informed of District activities and objectives.

Qualifications

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience managing social media platforms, websites, and digital communication tools.

Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.

Knowledge of media relations, public information practices, and community engagement strategies.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and communication design tools.
