Data Science Intern

Title: Data Science Intern

Duration: Long term

Schedule: Can be 20 to 40 hrs per week depending on candidate work rights

Job Summary: The Data Science Intern is responsible for supporting data science, analytics, and AI initiatives through data preparation, exploratory analysis, model evaluation, and documentation. This role works closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to help develop reliable, responsible, and actionable data-driven solutions that improve Leoforce’s AI-powered recruiting intelligence platform. 
 

Essential Functions: 

  • Collect, clean, organize, and validate data for analytics, machine learning, and AI projects.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support development, testing, and evaluation of statistical, machine learning, and AI models.
  • Assist with data preparation, feature engineering, prompt development, benchmarking, and evaluation.
  • Evaluate model outputs and document findings, limitations, and next steps.
  • Support applied AI projects, including conversational AI, document intelligence, and knowledge retrieval.
  • Build and maintain Python, SQL, notebook-based workflows, visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Support testing, validation, documentation, and monitoring of data science and AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with data science, engineering, product, and business teams on shared deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • Basic understanding of statistical modeling and data mining techniques
  • Familiarity with data structures, databases, and data processing methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly through reports, charts, and/or presentations
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork across various departments and levels
  • Strong attention to detail and organization when handling large data sets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Experience working with Java, C++, Python, Hadoop, and/or Database/SQL
  • Experience with AI and machine learning

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer in close range
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally  

Travel Requirements: 

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
