Assistant Project Manager — Coatings Contractor
Join Naylor: Where Craftsmanship Meets Opportunity
We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager who's hungry to learn, comfortable in the field, and ready to work alongside architects, owners, and construction leaders on high-end projects. You don't need years of experience—you need curiosity, hustle, and the drive to master a specialty trade.
What You'll Do
- Partner with project foremen/superintendents to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly—from pre-job planning through closeout
- Dive into drawings, specs, and documents to understand the full project scope
- Manage submittals, RFIs, and T&M tracking with precision
- Coordinate quality control walks and ensure our standards are met on every job
- Build relationships with clients, owners, trade partners, and vendors
- Handle jobsite administration, progress reporting, and monthly billings
- Contribute to WIP reports, financial tracking, and project analysis
Why Naylor
We're a third-generation family business where excellence isn't negotiable—and neither is investing in our people. Our Director of Learning & Development runs a structured training program. You'll learn from specialists who've mastered high-performance coatings, complex project management, and client partnerships. We work on projects that matter: high-end commercial, marine protection, institutional work—not commodity jobs. And we invest in you: health/dental/vision/life insurance, generous PTO, parental leave, cell phone stipend, transportation allowance, and a lucrative retirement plan.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 0-3 years experience in construction (intern for GC/CM, assistant superintendent, project engineer, or similar)
- Comfortable walking active jobsites and working in the field
- Confident talking to architects, owners, and high-level stakeholders
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Collaborative, coachable, and genuinely interested in learning
- Bachelor's in construction management or related experience a plus
- Flexible for travel and client meetings
What Matters Most
Strong work ethic. Attention to detail. Willingness to ask questions and learn. We'd rather hire someone with drive and curiosity than someone with experience but a closed mind.
