Position Overview 

Hollywood Schoolhouse seeks a warm, collaborative, and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our Early Childhood Team in the three-year-old classroom. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a joyful, engaging, and developmentally rich classroom environment. This individual will work closely with children, families, and colleagues to uphold the school’s mission and philosophy while contributing to a positive and inclusive learning community. 

Position: Early Childhood Assistant Teacher 

Schedule:  8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM 

Reports to: Director of Early Childhood Education

 

Key Responsibilities 

Classroom Support 

● Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to implement play-based, developmentally appropriate activities that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. 

● Assist with classroom setup, organization, and daily clean-up to maintain a safe and inviting learning environment. 

● Support transitions, routines, and daily rhythms that promote independence and consistency for young learners. 

Instruction & Learning 

● Engage actively with children during whole-group, small-group, and individual activities. 

● Support small-group lessons under the direction of the Lead Teacher and provide assistance as needed. 

● Encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and positive social interaction through modeling and conversation. 

Supervision & Care 

● Supervise children across settings, including the classroom, outdoor play, enrichment, and rest time, with attention to safety and emotional well-being. 

● Support children in developing independence in self-care and conflict resolution skills. 

● Discuss any incidents with the Lead Teacher to ensure continuity and care. 

Collaboration & Professionalism 

● Partner closely with the Lead Teacher and Early Childhood Director to communicate classroom needs and observations. 

● Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school community events. 

● Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and alignment with Hollywood Schoolhouse’s mission and values.


 

Qualifications & Requirements 

● Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related field preferred. 

● Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a school or childcare setting. 

● Strong communication and collaboration skills. 

● A nurturing, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting children’s development. 

 

Compensation 

Hourly Rate Range: $21.00 - $26.00
