Grants and Data Analytics Intern

Grants and Data Analytics Intern:

The Grants and Data Analytics Intern will work closely with the Community Programs team to organize, analyze, and visualize grant data associated with the City of Austin’s Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment funding programs. The intern will help design dashboards that track applications, awards, funding distribution, program outcomes, and key portfolio metrics.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with data exports, cleaning data, creating metrics, and building dashboards in tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or Excel. An interest in the arts, music, government, public administration, or arts administration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Export and organize grant data from our grant database
  • Clean, validate, and prepare datasets for analysis
  • Develop dashboards and visual reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
  • Create key performance indicators (KPIs) for grantmaking activities
  • Identify trends and insights within grant application and reporting data
  • Support funder reporting and internal decision-making processes
  • Document dashboard definitions and reporting procedures
  • Collaborate with program and operations staff to understand reporting needs

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience creating dashboards and visualizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
