Client Accounting Associate

ABOUT THE ROLE

RRC is growing its accounting team and looking for a skilled, client-facing Client Accounting Associate to manage the books for a diverse portfolio of business clients. Our clients span law firms, medical practices, construction, real estate, and hospitality — so variety and real industry exposure are built into this role.

This is a hands-on position where you will own client relationships, produce accurate financials, and work closely with our senior staff and firm leadership. If you're looking to move beyond transactional accounting into a role where you're a trusted partner to business owners, this is it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintain accurate books for a portfolio of small to mid-size business clients across multiple industries
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll entries
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and deliver results
  • Coordinate with tax and CPA staff to ensure clean, accurate, audit-ready records
  • Set up and maintain client files in our practice management system
  • Assist with payroll processing and reporting for select clients
  • Identify issues and escalate items requiring CPA-level review

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • QBO proficiency: You're comfortable in QuickBooks Online and ideally hold a QBO ProAdvisor certification.
  • Client relationship skills: You communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively with business owners.
  • Accuracy and ownership: You take responsibility for your clients' financial records and your work product.
  • Adaptability: You're comfortable in an evolving, tech-forward environment.
  • Multi-client management: You juggle deadlines and deliverables across multiple engagements without dropping the ball.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in a public accounting or multi-client environment
  • QuickBooks Online proficiency required; QBO ProAdvisor certification preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll processing (ADP, Gusto, or similar) preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary range: $45,000 – $65,000 depending on experience
  • Full-time, in-office position in San Antonio
  • Competitive benefits package
  • Clear path for advancement as the firm grows

WHY RRC

  • Work with a diverse client base across multiple industries — real variety, real relationships
  • Small firm with direct mentorship and leadership access
  • A culture where accounting staff are respected client-facing contributors, not back-office processors
