Grant Writing Intern
Paid Grant Writing & Government Contracting Intern
(Education, Refugee & Youth Programs – Lightkeepers x SRISO)
Overview
Lightkeepers International LLC, in partnership with SRISO (Slavic Refugee and Immigrant Services Organization), is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented Paid Intern to support our work with grants and government contracts for after‑school, camp, and immigrant/refugee support programs.
This role is ideal for students interested in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, education policy, or community development who want real experience with funding and contracting for youth, family, and newcomer services.
What you’ll do
Research public and private grant opportunities for education, youth, and immigrant/refugee services.
Help draft sections of grant proposals (needs, program descriptions, outcomes, evaluation, basic budgets) under supervision.
Organize supporting documents, data, and attachments needed for submissions.
Assist with light research and tracking related to government contracting portals (RFPs, scopes of work, deadlines, compliance checklists).
Join occasional Zoom or in‑person meetings with Lightkeepers and SRISO leadership to see how programs and partnerships are designed around funding.
What you’ll gain
Hands‑on experience with real grant applications and contracting processes, not just classroom simulations.
Mentorship and feedback on your writing, research, and professional communication.
Insight into how education, navigation, and wraparound services run across schools, camps, community centers, and refugee support organizations.
Strong resume experience and potential writing samples you can reference (with identifying information removed).
An understanding of how grants and government contracts can support education services, housing stability, job placement, and mental health resources for youth and families, including newcomers and refugees.
What you bring
Current undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field (education, public administration, social work, nonprofit management, social sciences, business, writing/communications, etc.).
Strong writing, editing, and research skills; comfortable with Google Docs/Drive and spreadsheets.
Reliable, organized, and able to meet deadlines with support.
Genuine interest in youth programs, immigrant and refugee communities, and community impact.
