Job description:
Rate: $18.45/hour
Schedule: 20 hours per week
Status: Part-Time, 10-month position
Location: LCA East and/or LCA West, as assigned
Reports To: Director
Day-to-Day Direction: Director and Mentors

Position Summary

Lancaster County Academy is seeking three part-time Classroom Aides to support student supervision, campus operations, and instructional activities. The Classroom Aide assists teachers and mentors by helping students stay on task, supporting basic academic needs, monitoring common areas, and assisting with day-to-day school operations.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, student-centered, and able to support students in a calm, structured, and trauma-informed learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support and Supervision

  • Supervise students in classrooms, small groups, testing areas, hallways, arrival, dismissal, and common areas.
  • Provide on-task coaching and basic academic support using teacher-provided resources.
  • Support student behavior expectations using positive and restorative approaches.
  • Help students follow daily routines, campus expectations, and academic pacing expectations.
  • Implement standard accommodations under teacher direction.

Operational and Clerical Support

  • Assist with front-desk coverage, phone calls, visitor sign-in, and general office support as needed.
  • Help track daily attendance, time-in/time-out logs, and make-up time records.
  • Support data entry related to grades, credit progress, student files, and attendance records.
  • Prepare materials, organize supplies, maintain inventories, and assist with room setups.
  • Proctor assessments and assist with technology checkout and returns.

Team Collaboration

  • Follow direction from mentors, Site Lead, and Director.
  • Communicate student concerns or operational needs to appropriate staff.
  • Support school events, orientation, testing days, family nights, and other student activities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with students and families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong organization, customer service, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
  • Comfort using Google Workspace and basic office technology.
  • Ability to work positively with students in a nontraditional school setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a school, youth program, behavioral support setting, or office environment.
  • Experience working with at-risk or nontraditional learners.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred, but not required.

Required Clearances/Certifications

  • PA Criminal History Clearance
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance
  • Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training
  • Current TB test, per district requirements
  • CPR/First Aid preferred or willingness to obtain within 60 days

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement between classrooms.
  • Light lifting and general classroom or office setup may be required.
  • Occasional travel between campuses or support for evening events may be needed.
