Fundraising and Events Intern

Part-time or full-time · 20–40 hrs/week

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Los Angeles Parks Foundation is a nonprofit partner of Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP), working to ensure that every Angeleno — regardless of zip code — has access to vibrant, well-resourced parks and recreational programs. We raise private funds to support programs, facilities, and green space across the city's 600+ parks.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fundraising + Events Intern will play a hands-on role in securing and stewarding corporate and community sponsors for LA Parks Foundation events — including our signature fundraising events and park beautification days. This is an ideal opportunity for a student interested in nonprofit development, corporate partnerships, or event-based fundraising.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and identify prospective corporate sponsors aligned with the foundation's mission and events calendar
  • Assist in developing and updating sponsorship decks, benefit packages, and prospectus materials
  • Support outreach to corporate prospects via email, phone, and LinkedIn under staff supervision
  • Track sponsor pipeline, commitments, and deliverables in DonorPerfect (or equivalent CRM)
  • Coordinate sponsor fulfillment — logos, signage, recognition, tickets, and on-site activations
  • Draft sponsor acknowledgment letters, recap reports, and renewal proposals
  • Assist with on-site event logistics and sponsor hosting on event days
  • Research peer organizations' sponsorship models and benchmark benefit tiers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in nonprofit management, public policy, communications, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; CRM experience a plus
  • Passion for parks, public space, environmental equity, or community development
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
