Job Summary and Purpose

The  Coordinator of Technology Systems serves as a member of the Engineering and Operations team, coordinating division-wide technology projects and initiatives that directly support a robust, safe, and learning-focused IT ecosystem.  This role will collaborate directly with school and departmental leaders during the evaluation and planning phases of large-scale technology projects, will oversee the execution of complex division-wide implementations, and will have direct involvement in training and growth efforts for technology staff at all levels.  This position will contribute towards ensuring technology decisions align with evolving classroom needs, and collaborate with teams to prepare staff to fully utilize new technologies.

 

Work Objectives/Essential Functions

 

  • Manage the evaluation and planning phases of key division-wide technology implementations.
  • Coordinate the execution of key technology projects, creating and adhering to project schedules, interfacing with staff and vendors, creating long-term support plans, and ensuring proper user training is provided.
  • Assist in identifying synergies and developing growth opportunities for IT staff members both in schools as well as within the Department of Innovation and Technology.
  • Collaboratively work to ensure that technology initiatives strictly adhere to guidelines of confidentiality and student data privacy as outlined in federal laws (e.g., FERPA), state regulations, and Stafford County Public Schools Board Policies.
  • Act as liaison between the Department of Innovation and Technology, school and departmental leaders, instructional and support staff, and vendors as needed.
  • Conduct and/or assist in training opportunities on SCPS technology systems.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, follow-up with affected staff, and coordinate with support vendors as required.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation for SCPS technology systems.
  • Participate as a collaborative team member of the broader Engineering and Operations team.

Education and Experience

Education Attainment (Required):

 Bachelor's degree

Education Attainment (Preferred):

 N/A

Relevant Experience (Required):

 Three (3) years of successful, full time experience in IT support, instructional support, and/or project management

Relevant Experience (Preferred):

 Large scale technology project planning, management, implementation and progress assessment experience

Industry Licensure or Certifications (Required):

Industry Licensure or Certifications (Preferred):

 Certification in project management (e.g. PMP, CAPM. CompTIA Project+)

  • Strong familiarity with instructional technology and commonly used hardware and software systems in a K-12 education environment
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with project teams to solve problems and design systems.
  • A demonstrable ability to write and maintain technical documentation
  • Effective communication skills with individuals across all levels of technical proficiency
  • Able to effectively research technical issues and implement solutions
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals
  • Organizational skills needed to work on multiple projects while meeting all deadlines
  • Shows sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work
