Arts & Media Practicum 

During the Arts & Media Practicum, you will work part-time to complete a deliverable for an employer partner. The Arts & Media Practicum is terrific way to hone professional development in technical research, analysis, strategic planning, and presentation skills and a great boost to your resume.

ABOUT THE PROJECT 

Hyde Park Art Center Teen Programs 

Hyde Park Art Center’s Teen Programs is rooted in fostering creativity and radical self expression for youth across Chicago’s south side and beyond. Monday through Friday, they offer free afterschool artmaking workshops, classes and paid opportunities open to any teen who is looking to push their creativity to the next level. Courses include community hang outs, hands-on instruction with art practices, and professional development.

Supporting the manager, you will be onsite to help with day to day operations. The role asks for flexibility, problem solving, and the ability to engage directly with youth on a daily basis. In addition to supporting the Manager, a key part to the role will be collecting data and storytelling.

The ideal student interested in this work is:
● Interested in education, youth voices, the arts, and community based work.
● A problem solver and critical thinker.
● Wants to work with youth/young people.
● Creative and passionate about art.
● Wants to serve their community.
● Looking to build administrative skills and overall experience.
