POSITION SUMMARY
Banning Engineering is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the design and delivery of private development projects, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use site development across Indiana. Working alongside project managers, this role contributes to engineering design, construction documents, permitting, and client coordination.
This is a growth-oriented position for an early-to-mid-career engineer pursuing professional licensure who wants increasing responsibility within an employee-owned firm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform site design tasks including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility layout.
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, and supporting calculations.
- Assist with permitting and agency submittals at the local, county, and state level.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and review agencies under the direction of the project manager.
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
- Review and coordinate work prepared by CAD technicians and designers.
- Conduct site visits and assist with construction-phase services as needed.
- Contribute to proposal preparation and scope development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Engineer Intern (EI) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, with a commitment to pursuing PE licensure.
- Two to five years of experience in civil site or land development design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Understanding of stormwater management and site development design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with private development projects in the Indiana market.
- Familiarity with local permitting and agency review processes.
- Progress toward Indiana PE licensure.
