Program Overview
This Social Work Internship offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience working alongside local community organizations in Vietnam or Cambodia. Interns support vulnerable populations through community outreach, education, youth development, social welfare initiatives, and community-based support programs.
The placement provides valuable exposure to social service delivery in a developing-country context while helping students develop intercultural competence, communication skills, and an understanding of global social challenges.
This is an unpaid internship with a minimum commitment of four weeks. Longer placements are encouraged to maximize learning and community impact.
Location
Internships are available in:
Phnom Penh or rural communities in Cambodia
Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or community development projects in Vietnam
Placement locations vary depending on project needs, student interests, and availability.
Internship Areas
Depending on the host organization and student background, interns may be involved in:
Child and Youth Development
- Supporting after-school programs
- Assisting with educational activities

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Community Development, International Development, or a related field
- Possess a good level of spoken and written English
- Demonstrate maturity and professionalism
- Be willing to work respectfully within local cultural norms
- Commit to a minimum placement duration of 4 weeks
- No prior international experience is required.
