Position Summary
The Studio Preparator and Collections Assistant supports the physical organization, storage, packing, transportation, and inventory management of artworks and exhibition materials. This position is ideal for students interested in museum studies, gallery work, exhibition design, collections management, or studio practice.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain artwork inventory records
- Assist with packing and preparing artworks for exhibition, shipping, or storage
- Label, track, and catalog artworks and materials
- Help maintain studio organization and storage systems
- Assist with exhibition installation and deinstallation when applicable
- Monitor condition and location of artworks and project materials
- Support fabrication and production activities as needed
- Assist with setup and cleanup during open studio and workshop activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to lift and move artwork and materials safely
- Interest in museums, galleries, collections, or studio practice
- Attention to detail and care in handling objects
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
