Staff Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing CPA firm. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing accounting, tax, and financial reporting services to a diverse client base, including individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and hands-on experience in public accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns.
- Assist with tax planning and compliance engagements.
- Perform bookkeeping and accounting services for clients, including account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Assist with compilation, review, and audit engagements.
- Analyze financial records and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Communicate with clients to gather information and respond to accounting and tax-related inquiries.
- Research accounting and tax issues and assist in implementing appropriate solutions.
- Maintain organized and accurate client files and workpapers.
- Support partners and managers with special projects and client engagements as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification.
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Sage, CCH Axcess.
- Experience working with small business clients.
