Staff Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing CPA firm. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing accounting, tax, and financial reporting services to a diverse client base, including individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and hands-on experience in public accounting.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Assist with tax planning and compliance engagements.
  • Perform bookkeeping and accounting services for clients, including account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Assist with compilation, review, and audit engagements.
  • Analyze financial records and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and respond to accounting and tax-related inquiries.
  • Research accounting and tax issues and assist in implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain organized and accurate client files and workpapers.
  • Support partners and managers with special projects and client engagements as needed.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

 

Preferred

  • CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification.
  • Experience with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Sage, CCH Axcess.
  • Experience working with small business clients.
