Youth Theatre Camp Leader
We are seeking a candidate for this role. This position is designed to provide hands-on leadership experience in a youth theatre day camp setting. This opportunity offers real-world training in directing, teaching, child supervision, and arts education while working with children ages 5–12. This employee will play an active role in daily camp operations and assist in preparing and producing weekly theatre performances for families and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise campers (ages 5–12) to ensure a safe, structured, and positive environment
- Maintain active awareness of camper safety during rehearsals, transitions, lunch, and
- outdoor play
- Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance
- Support daily theatre instruction including acting, movement, and musical theatre
- Teach and rehearse simple choreography for musical numbers
- Help block scenes and stage group numbers
- Prepare campers for end-of-week performances
- Assist with costume coordination and basic prop organization
- Lead warm-ups, theatre games, and confidence-building exercises
- Provide encouragement to help campers build stage presence and self-esteem
- Support set-up and breakdown of rehearsal and performance spaces
- Participate in weekly staff leadership meetings
- Model professionalism, responsibility, and positive mentorship
Qualifications:
- Theatre, Education, Psychology, or related majors preferred
- Experience working with children ages 5–12 strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
- High energy, patience, and enthusiasm
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
