After-School Teacher

Position Summary

Our client, Reedy Fork Center for Community Development (RFCCD) is recruiting Teachers for their After School Initiative launching this Fall.

The RFCCD Teachers are responsible for assessing each student's grade level, closing academic and social gaps, delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate academic support and enrichment activities within a holistic after-school initiative.

This role integrates homework assistance, specialized enrichment activities, and cultural development to create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment for students. The ideal candidate is passionate about engaging, equipping, and empowering students academically, while committed to holistic values, and skilled in producing positive outcomes in the after-school initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily homework support and targeted tutoring in core subjects such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Facilitate afternoon enrichment activities (e.g., STEM, arts, group projects, and interactive learning experiences).
  • Facilitate each student's assessment to determine grade level using CCD’s curriculum. Differentiate academic support to meet diverse learning needs, school-day curriculum requirements, and varying abilities.
  • Maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes active participation and positive behavior after a full day of school.
  • Leading daily cultural reflections and engagement activities
  • Manage student safety, logistics during arrival transitions, activity rotations, and final dismissal.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or equivalent years of relevant experience. (Required).
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged students (grades 3–4 preferred) in a classroom, after-school, or enrichment environment. (Required)
  • Preferred experience in IXL and Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) curriculum systems (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong classroom management, proactive behavioral coaching, and instructional skills.
  • Ability to integrate holistic teachings into academic support and character development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with parents and program staff.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 3–4 hours per day).
  • Ability to actively supervise children in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Capability to lift, carry, or assist children and materials weighing up to 25–30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor when engaging with students.
  • Ability to climb minimally 2 flights of stairs.
  • Ability to participate in recreational activities, including light physical activity (e.g., games, gym or playground supervision).
  • Visual and auditory ability to monitor student safety and engagement at all times.
  • Ability to work in varying seasonal weather conditions during outdoor recreation or dismissal logistics.
